Brown Bag Fun Walk

Have Fun, Get Fit, and Help Others!

WHAT:                       The Brown Bag Fun Walk is a benefit for Hospice of Philadelphia, a

service of  the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia.  This “go at your own pace” fun walk, will take place in Center City Philadelphia on a Friday during lunchtime.  Each pre-registered walker will receive a pedometer at the start and healthy brown bag lunch at the end.  The goals are to promote healthy life-choices by encouraging local office workers to walk during their lunch hour, while helping to raise critical funds for Hospice of Philadelphia.

WHERE:                     The walk will begin at JFK Plaza, 1546 John F. Kennedy Blvd., in Philadelphia and will take participants on a loop to the Art Museum and back using the sidewalks on the north side of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

WHEN:                       Friday, April 18, 2008, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Rain or Shine.  Staggered start, walkers start when they arrive. 

WHO:                         1,000 to 2,000 walkers are expected.  Among the walkers will be individuals, city officials, Hospice nurses and staff, families of Hospice patients, and corporate walking teams representing walk sponsors such as Fox Rothschild LLP, Bayada Nurses, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

WHY:                          Each and every day, Hospice of Philadelphia cares for over 160 dying patients in the comfort of their own homes and the need for Hospice care continues to grow.  Hospice of Philadelphia’s mission is to make every day matter for children and adults who are suffering from terminal illnesses.  The funds raised from the Brown Bag Fun Walk will help us to serve even more patients and provide compassionate care to all regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
