VNA's Legacy Since 1886

Founded in 1886 by Helen Carnan Jenks, VNA Philadelphia took inspiration from England’s district nursing services, dedicated to providing health care to housebound patients.

Starting out with the assistance of physicians, our organization grew in the decades to follow and continued to evolve to meet our city’s dynamic healthcare needs. We have always been there - providing prevention, treatment and education through the epidemics of influenza, tuberculosis, polio, and the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, VNA Philadelphia delivers a continuum of care to a range of patients in the city and neighboring suburbs, by providing comprehensive home health, palliative, and hospice care. VNA continues to thrive through our enduring commitment to our communities, our staff, and the families we serve.

You can be a part of VNA's continuing legacy of community involvement and high-quality, compassionate care.
